Herding & TRACKING: Herding/Tracking
Host Hotel: There is a Cracker Barrel restaurant in the shared parking lot, and plenty of fast food and a super Walmart within a mile.
There is limited
on-site day and overnight parking for self-contained RVs (no hookups).
Alternate RV option (approximately 6 miles from the
herding site):
Woods End Farm is approximately 14 miles from the Days Inn Hotel, with tracking in the same immediate area. The draw for tracks will be held at the herding site where we'll have morning hospitality and lunch available for our herding and tracking participants. No one goes hungry in the south!
A SILENT AUCTION will be held on Saturday, November 8th at the herding trials. The tables will close 15 minutes after the last awards are presented. Your contributions, whether or not you will be attending the trials, will be greatly appreciated. We suggest any corgi or herding related items, or dog equipment. Contact Linda Stoddard (803) 648-8443 or mail items to Linda at P.O. Box 655, Aiken, SC 29802 or 140 McVey Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
Saturday night we'll have a combined dinner (pay as you order from the menu--full bar available) in a private room with our judges and participants at The Chop House restaurant in the delightful historic downtown of Madison, close to the host hotel. This entire area outside of Athens, GA (home of the University of Georgia) is home to artists of all types but especially pottery, and offers many historic antebellum houses and gardens and great antiquing! Our southern hospitality will be second to none and the area is a 'don't miss' for those of you intrigued by the 'real south'— Madison is the small Georgia town that General Sherman said was 'too pretty to burn' and diverted his troops around it during the civil war, so its historic buildings are truly original and unique. So--if you don't have a dog ready to track or herd, don't let that stop you--start your '08 National Specialty early with us in this charming part of NE Georgia before moving to the mountains of western Georgia for our conformation, obedience, rally and agility events.

CLASS SPONSORSHIPS
AND trophy donations: CLASS SPONSORSHIPS The PWCCA invites all corgi fanciers to support their favorite classes and events at our Specialty Show. This year, sponsors are encouraged to pledge online via PayPal, an exciting new feature which will enable them to dedicate a class and immediately confirm their class choice during their online visit. Please visit the Specialty information at http://www.pwcca.org/TrophySponsorship.html and follow the suggested links. For those preferring a hard copy of the class sponsor form, it is available for download. For more information or to request a form via email or traditional mail, contact Class Sponsor chair Carrie Chase at carrie@humnbirdcorgi.com or (304) 274-5939. Closing date for catalog dedications is September 25, 2008. Donations after the closing date will remain eligible for the Sponsor Only Raffle but names will not appear in the catalog. TROPHY DONATIONS The generous donations from the fancy help defray some of the trophy costs of Specialty events. Interested fanciers may also donate to the General Trophy Fund by completing the RSVP page in this premium.

“ASK ME” TEAM VOLUNTEERS NEEDED The Ask Me team is back in 2008 and we need your help. Volunteers are needed throughout the week to serve as the “go-to” folks for all the questions that will arise at our specialty from both seasoned exhibitors (“Where can we walk dogs…what time does Rally start…where is the bathing station?”) to local visitors attending their first show (“What type of dogs are those…how can I get a Corgi…do these dogs shed?”). You can work as much and whenever you choose during the week. Volunteers are needed for all locations – herding/tracking, agility, and conformation/obedience/rally. To join the Ask Me team, please contact Cheryl Owens at sportiecorgi@aol.com or (864) 637-8141, or Karen James at karenscorgis@cox.net or (850) 398-6215.
